Activity 6: Native Aotearoa

If I arrived in New Zealand in the waka I would feel nervous because there would be a lot of Maori people that would be staring at me which makes me uncomfortable.I would feel excited at the same time because I would greet Maori people with a hongi.

  1. Kia ora Beni,

It was so good to see you today at St Pius when I came into the school to hand out the certificates and prizes for the Winter Learning Journey programme!

I really enjoyed reading your blog posts over the winter holidays. Like you, I would also have been very nervous to arrive in New Zealand as an original settler and to have to figure out how to adapt to a brand new place. I had that experience when I first moved to New Zealand, seven years ago, and had to find my way in a new country. I must admit that it did get easier over time but it was a bit nerve wracking to start with!

Keep up the great work with your blogging, Beni.

    Best,
    Rachel :)
